Indore has a population of 3 million therefore city has a huge traffic volume which is concentrated mainly in centre of the city.

Main squares of Indore which are having high traffic volume are Bhanwarkua, Radisson, Rasoma, Vijaynagar, Jawahar marg etc. These squares come in the major accident prone areas of Indore. These places are well equipped with all kind of facilities like Camera installation, Automatically operated traffic signals, traffic police but main reason of collisions are lack of awareness in road users, pedestrians; Non availability of cycle lanes, improper road markings, and not proper management of traffic rules and regulations.

The Accident rates can be minimizing by adopting the following measures:

  • Awaring road users by giving them information about traffic signs through campaigns.
  • Road accidents can also reduce if people implement the common safety measures like wearing helmets and seatbelts.
  • Reflectors should be used on the rear of the vehicle. Ensure all lamps are in working condition. Hazard lamps should be switched on when the vehicle is parked on the highway.
  • Traffic rules have been designed with safety foremost in mind.
  • It takes into account safety for all, including pedestrians. Follow the lane, and keep the required distance between vehicles. Respect for other drivers on the road is very important for road safety.
